Ingredients:
2 c of flour (whole wheat)
1/4 c of sugar (granulated)
1/4 c of lard (or shortening)
2 tsps of salt
2 pkgs of yeast (active dry)
2 c of water (very warm, 120-130 degrees F)
3 c of flour (or 4 cups, all purpose)
2 tsps of flour (all purpose)
Instructions:
Combine (whole wheat) flour, lard, sugar, yeast, and salt inside mixing bowl; mix them well and add (warm) water. Use a mixer to beat for a minute, while scraping sides occasionally. Add enough (all purpose) flour, gradually adding by one cup; while beating gently, letting dough form.
When done, transfer it on a slightly floured board. Knead till elastic and smooth, about ten mins. Place on a buttered bowl then turn, with the buttered side facing up. Allow it to rise, cover dough till it doubles, about 40-60 mins.
Punch down the risen dough. Cut to half and allow to rest about five mins. Shape to two slightly flattened round loaves and place onto opposite ends of greased large baking sheet. Drape with dry towel and allow to rise for forty-five mins.
Preheat oven at (375 degrees F). Score lattice design on top and sift over a teaspoon of (all purpose) flour on each of the loaf. Bake for 35-40 mins till they turn slightly brown.
