Taffy Apple Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
1 bag of caramels (14 ozs)
3 c of flour (all-purpose)
1 c of margarine or butter; creamed
4 c of confectioners’ sugar
1 Tbsps of vanilla extract
2 tsps of allspice (ground)
2 tsps of cinnamon (ground)
6 pcs of eggs
3 pcs of apples (Granny Smith varieties); peeled, cored & chopped
Instructions:
Preheat the oven 350 degrees F. Apply flour and grease on two 9×5 inch bread pans then set them aside. Cut caramels into 8 pieces and toss them with a Tbsps of flour, to avoid sticking with one another; set them aside. With electricity-operated mixer or blender, beat vanilla, butter and sugar ’til fluffy. One by one, add eggs while continuously beating.
Using separate bowl, combine allspice, cinnamon as well as the rest of flour, and add this mixture into butter mix then blend very well. Add and stir to mixture, using wood spoon, caramel and apples. Pour equally into bread pans, then bake 70-80 minutes ’til toothpick inserted in middle will come out without sticky crumbs. Allow to be cooled on rack prior to lifting loaf off the pans.
