Apple Butter Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2 c of margarine or butter; at room temperature
1 c of brown sugar; packed firmly
1 pc of egg
2 tsps of baking soda
3/4 c of buttermilk
1 c of apple butter
1/2 c of pecans; chopped
1 tsp of cinnamon; ground
1 tsp of nutmeg; ground
1 tsp of allspice; ground
2 c of all purpose flour
Instructions:
Cream the sugar and butter together. Add in the egg and mix well. Blend soda and buttermilk in small bowl. In another bowl, combine spices and flour. Add this to the butter mixture alternating the soda-buttermilk mixture. Starts and ends with the flour. Add in the pecans and apple butter.
Grease a 9 by 5 by 3 inch pan and fill pan with batter. Bake for an hour or ’til a cake tester is clean after inserting to the center of bread. Bake in an oven temperature of 350 deg Fahrenheit. Remove from oven and allow to rest in the pan for five minutes. Transfer to rack to cool thoroughly. Good for 9 persons.
