Babka in the Bread Machine Recipe
Ingredients:
For coffeecake:
1/2 c of milk
2 pcs of eggs (large)
1/2 c of softened butter
1/3 c of water
1 tsp of salt
1/2 c of sugar (granulated)
4 c of flour (all-purpose)
4-1/2 tsps of yeast (active dry)
For topping:
A zest of orange (large); grated
3/4 c of sugar (granulated)
1 Tbsp of cinnamon
Instructions:
Place milk, water, eggs, butter, sugar, salt, flour, and yeast in a (bread) pan. Select Dough setting (or Manual) then press button to start.
While waiting for dough to be done, combine sugar, cinnamon, and orange zest. When machine is done, remove dough then place onto a slightly floured board. Divide dough to four sections equally and divide every section to four even parts.
This will make 16 chunks. Roll up each dough to balls and roll the balls on topping mixture individually.
Place the balls onto a (greased and floured) 10 inch (Bundt) pan then cover. Let the formed dough rise till it reaches top of pan, at about one hour to an hour and a half hour.
Preheat oven at (350 degrees F) and bake till it turns slightly brown, at about 40-45 mins. Let it cool inside the warm pan for ten mins. Take out from pan then let it cool. Sift over powdered sugar if desired.
