Date Nut Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
1 c of dates; chopped
1 c of sugar (granulated)
2 Tbsps of shortening
1 c of water (boiling)
2-1/4 c of flour (all purpose)
1 tsp of baking soda (Arm & Hammer)
1 tsp of salt
1 tsp of baking powder (Calumet)
1 c of nuts; chopped
1 pc of egg
Instructions:
Combine the sugar, shortening, and dates inside a mixing bowl; mix them well and add the (boiling) water. Let it cool. Combine soda, Calumet, and salt; add onto the mixture.
Incorporate well then fold in the nuts. Beat in the egg and blend well. Pour onto a buttered 9×5 inch pan and bake, 350 degrees Fahrenheit for an hour.
