Honey Whole Wheat Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pack dried yeast
1 & 1/4 c of water (hot)
2 Tbsps of shortening
2 & 1/2 c of whole flour (wheat); divided
1/4 c of water (lukewarm)
1 & 1/2 tsp of salt
1/4 c of honey
2 c of flour; sifted and divided
Instructions:
Sprinkle dried yeast all over water (lukewarm) and soften.
In mixing bowl, mix honey w/ water (hot), salt & shortening. Stir the mixture well ’til shortening & honey are well melted. Cool.
Add in yeast, 1 & 1/2 c of whole flour & 1 c of flour (white). Blend mixture ’til combined. Combine 1 c each of both flour varieties to achieve moderately stiffened dough.
Transfer your dough onto heavily-floured working board then knead it for approximately 10 mins ’til elastic and smoothened.
Transfer into greased bowl, then turn and allow to stand w/ cover in draft-free warm corner for 1 7 1/2 hrs, or ’til double in volume.
Punch down dough, transfer to floured working board then roll into balls. Stand w/ cover for ten minutes.
Form dough carefully into loaves and place in greased loaf bake pan. Stand w/ cover ’til double in volume (45 mins). Bake it for three hundred seventy five degrees Fahrenheit for 40-45 mins ’til golden-browned and bread produces hollow sound once tapped.
Transfer into racks and cool.
