Jalapeno Bagels Recipe
Ingredients:
1 & 3/4 c of water (lukewarm)
2 tsps of salt
5-6 c of flour
1/4 c dry red peppers
1/2 tsp of dried yeast
1 & 1/2 Tbsps of sugar (granulated)
1/3 c Jalapenos
Instructions:
Combine water, sugar and yeast. Add jalapenos and flour, form into balls. Knead dough for 10-12 mins, gradually adding flour as necessary, ’til dough becomes stiff.
Combine peppers then knead for three minutes. Allow to rest for ten minutes and cut evenly into twelve pieces using sharp-edged knife.
Have each dough piece rolled forming a long cigarette-like shapes. Overlap about three-forth inch to connect dough pieces and create a ring-shape. Securely attach joints to avoid separation when boiled.
Cover w/ a dampened towel. Allow to rise for 1 – 1 &1/2 hrs in warm place. Boil 1-2 gallons water in cooking pot. Place the bagels into water, boil ’til they individually float (about 15-30 secs).
Remove from water then transfer into greased, flat baking sheet. Oven at four hundred degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 mins or ’til golden browned.
