Jalapeno Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
2 small envelopes of active dried yeast
1/2 c of warmed water
3 c of extra-sharp cheese (Cheddar); shredded
1 Tbsp of salt
1 tsp of sugar (granulated)
2 c of milk
8 & 3/4 c of flour (all-purpose)
1/4 c Jalapeno peppers; minced
2 tsps of Tabasco sauce
4 pcs eggs (large)
Instructions:
Combine adn stir warmed water, sugar & yeast in bowl. Stand ’til foamy (approx 5 mins).
In separate bowl, combine cheese, 8 c of flour, Jalapenos, Tabasco sauce and salt. In saucepan placed over low-heat, heat milk ’til warm (12-130 degrees Fahrenheit). Stir in milk onto flour mix.
In another bowl, beat the eggs lighlty. Reserve 1 Tbsp of egg (beaten). Add in beaten eggs into dry ingredients, stir ’til mixture creates a firm, soft dough.
Knead dough in floured working surface for five minutes, ’til dough is elastic and smooth. Add in remaining flour and knead.
Form into dough ball then transfer in greased, large bowl. Turn it over at once to coat top w/ grease. Cover w/ a dampened cloth and allow to rise in warm area ’til doubled in bulk (approx 1 & 1/2 hrs).
Grease 2 large and thin bake sheets. Puch dough down then divide into half. Form both parts into dough balls and transfer onto bake sheets. Then cover again w/ dampened cloth and allow to rise ’til doubled (approx 1 & 1/2 hrs).
Form into loavees and brush w/ remainder of eggs (beaten) Oven at 375 degrees F for 45 mins or ’til loaves creats hollow sound when tapped.
