Mandarin Orange Scones Recipe
Ingredients:
1 & 3/4 c of all purpose flour
1/2 tsp of salt
2 Tbsps of sugar (granulated)
1 & 1/4 tsps of baking powder
1/2 c of buttermilk
1/4 tsp of baking soda
1 pc of orange; peel grated
6 Tbsps of butter
A can of oranges (Mandarin); chopped up
1 c of powdered sugar
3 dr of flavoring (orange)
1 tsp of orange zest
Orange juice; freshly squeezed
Instructions:
Preheat the oven with a temperature of 425 degrees-F.
Manually mix sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and soda. Dice in the butter and mix in zest of one orange, buttermilk and oranges. Transfer dough over a well floured surface and knead the dough. Form 8 pcs of 1 inch circular wedges. Mark each wedge and bake ’til golden for 12-16 minutes.
For the glaze, combine flavoring, 1 teaspoon of zest, powdered sugar and juice enough for the glaze to thin out in consistency. Glaze hot scones to serve.
