Orange Almond Buttermilk Scones Recipe
Ingredients:
3.5 c of flour
1 tsp of salt
2 pcs of eggs
1/2 c of sugar (granulated)
1 Tbsp of baking powder
1/2 c of butter (chilled); diced
A roll of almond (paste, 7 ozs); chilled
1/2 tsp of baking soda
1 Tbsp of orange zest
1 c of buttermilk
1 tsp of almond (extract, pure)
Pounded almonds and sugar for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat the oven with temperature of 400 degrees-F. Cover 2 cookie tray with wax paper. You can also grease and sprinkle flour on them as an alternative.
Sift sugar, flour, baking powder, soda and salt together inside a large-sized bowl. Dice butter in the dry ingredients with the use of food blender ’til mixture is crumbly with visible small sizes of chilled butter.
Grate paste with the large-holed grater into dry ingredients. Mix ’til blended completely. Use a mixer to beat orange zest, an egg, extract and buttermilk ’til blended well. pour wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix vigorously ’til ball of dough is formed.
Transfer dough over a floured surface. Knead 6-8 times and form rectangular shape out of dough with half inch thickness. Cut the dough out with the use of a round biscuit cutter 2 and a half inch in diameter.
Whisk an egg and water inside a small-sized bowl. Coat the top using egg wash. You may sprinkle with almonds and sugar. Bake ’til lightly brown for 14-16 minutes. Allow to cool over racks. Yields 20 pieces.
