Rice Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
1.5 c of rice (well-cooked)
1 pc of egg
2 Tbsps of butter
1 Tbsp of sugar (granulated)
1 c of milk or water (very warm)
1 pack of yeast (dry)
4 c or more of flour (all-purpose)
2 tsps of salt
Instructions:
Beat briefly together yeast, water, sugar, butter, egg and rice. Set it aside (30-40 minutes) ’til barmy. Pass mixture through a sifter, rubbing rice to get through it. Add salt and flour then beat ’til smooth.
Dough must be a bit soft yet not watery. Pour in additional flour when needed. Allow to rise, while covered, ’til dough doubles in size within an hour.
Punch dough down briskly and mold into loaf. Put into 9″ x 5″ buttered loaf pan (or into 2 loaves of 6″ x 3″ pans). Dough can also be shaped into egg-shaped balls. Allow dough to rise, loosely covered, ’til they double their sizes within an hour.
Preheat oven (450 degree F). Slash each dough deeply prior to baking then place them in oven. Decrease temperature immediately (400 degrees F) and bake ’til they brown lightly. Loaves (40 minutes) have a different baking time for bread rolls (20 minutes).
