Sauerkraut Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pack of yeast (dry, 1/4 oz)
3/4 c of water (warm, 110-115 degrees Fahrenheit)
3 Tbsps of sugar (brown, packed)
1/2 c of potato flakes
1/2 tsp of caraway seed
1 tsp of salt
2 Tbsps of vegetable oil
3.5 – 4 c of flour
1 can of sauerkraut (14 ozs); drained &chopped
Instructions:
Stir yeast on water ’til dissolved. Add the sauerkraut, oil, caraway seed, salt, sugar and flakes of potato, blending well. Slowly pour flour, creating dough that is stiff.
Knead dough for four minutes on bread board that has been floured. Cover the dough and allow to increase size while in a warm area ’til it doubles in its size within (45 minutes – 1 hour). Beat down the dough prior to using it then form into a loaf and insert into 9″ x 5″ loaf pan that has been greased. Cover the loaf pans and allow the dough to rise while in a warm area ’til it doubles its size (45 minutes – 1 hour).
Preheat the oven (350 degrees F) and bake dough (50-60 minutes) ’til deep gold-brown in color. This recipe creates one loaf of bread.
