Vanilla Raisin Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
2 tsps yeast (active); dry
3 1/2 c of flour (bread)
2 Tbsps of white sugar
3 Tbsps of butter; softened
1 tsp of salt
1 whole egg
1-1/8 up to 1-1/4 c of buttermilk
3 Tbsps of vanilla essence
2/3 c of raisins
Instructions:
Mix together vanilla essence and raisins then let stand for an hour. An alternative is to combine these two ingredients, place inside the microwave and heat (high) for one minute. Strain raisins. Reserve vanilla syrup.
Mix the flour, yeast, butter, sugar, salt and egg. Whisk in milk and your raisins. Add a teaspoon of vanilla syrup. Place everything inside the bread pan.
Choose light setting when starting. Observe your dough while it is being kneaded. If dough appears gritty or dry, add a few more amounts of the liquid. Continue adding liquid until it is even and smooth in consistency.
Place bread atop a wooden rack to cool prior to slicing it.
