Zwieback Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pack of yeast (active dry)
1/4 c of water (warm)
1/4 c of milk
1/4 c of sugar (granulated)
1/4 c of butter; melted
1/2 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp of anise (powdered)
3 pcs of eggs
Flour
Instructions:
Prepare yeast by putting it in water (warm). Heat milk but do not boil, let it stand ’til lukewarm. Then add milk to yeast then put in eggs (unbeaten), anise, salt, butter, sugar and adequate amount of flour. Let mixture rise ’til double in size.
Form into 3″ rolls of oblong shapes. Arrange into rows on a greased baking pan about 2″ apart. Leave to rise then bake in oven (400 degrees F) 20 mins. When it is cooled, cut to become 1/2″ sliced then put back in oven ’til evenly browned.
